Four-Season Curriculum

Campus Life

Today’s off-campus learning experience was conducted in collaboration with the “Exploring Tainan” team from the College of Liberal Arts, National Cheng Kung University.

Together, we guided students into familiar yet often overlooked corners of the city.

Centered on the theme of “Preservation, Restoration, and Adaptive Reuse,” this course led students through on-site exploration to understand how spaces can be given new life—and to reconsider the relationships between agriculture, the city, and people.

Afternoon Field Exploration Highlights

  • On-site investigation of the former Agricultural Experiment Station and the Great East Gate (Dadongmen) area

  • Exploring possibilities for the adaptive reuse of urban green spaces

  • Understanding the significance of local industry history and cultural preservation

Through close observation of the city’s details, students were guided to better understand Tainan’s historical context, industrial transitions, and accumulated cultural heritage.

Learning through walking,
thinking through space—
allowing the city itself to become the most authentic and warm classroom of all.
